August 8th starts what is called the 40 Days of Teshuva. These are the 40 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement(Sept 15-16). In the Jewish culture the Day of Atonement was consider the holiest day of the year because it was the one day of the year when the high priest could enter the Holy of Holies and make atonement for the sins of the people for the year. During these 40 days there was a huge emphasis put on taking action and getting everything righted before the Day of Atonement, which was considered the closing of the year.
We can live this way all the time, but we have a built in reminder every year just in case we get off track. During the next 40 days is a time to take action. What are the things that have been piling up on the inside? What things do you know to do but haven't done yet? The fall is a time when God often begins to transition us to the next level, but the preparation needs to start now. As you take action on the things that are piling up on the inside it increases your mental clarity and your ability to hear more clearly from God.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
