7 Dates With Jesus Part 5 Pentecost

Uncategorized Apr 11, 2020

From the day of First Fruits (yesterday) the people were told to count 50 days until the day of Pentecost (May 30th). After Jesus rose from the dead he appeared to the disciples and taught them about the kingdom of God, and then told them to wait until Pentecost when they would be clothed with power from on high.

Here are some themes to be thinking about for this season.

This is a 50 day sprint to the day of Pentecost.

  • Spring is a time of refreshing and also rapid growth.
  • God wants to do something new this year. When he shows you what to do, it's time to run.
  • Spring is the when you sow seeds. What new thing does God want you to sow/invest into?
  • Spring is also when kings go to battle.

Summary of Pentecost

Pentecost is about living a life coordinated and navigated by the Holy Spirit. He has been sent to guide you into all truth and show you the direction your life should be moving. Part of his job is to teach you God's vision, the nature and character of God, and your individual purpose.

First the Holy Spirit wants to show you God's big picture vision. God wants all people to be saved and come to a knowledge of the truth and he wants all things in heaven and earth united. He wants people who are reconciled, connected, and walking in his ways bringing heaven to earth.

Next the Holy Spirit must teach you God's nature and character. You must know how he operates. God is love. He is patient, kind, gentle, not arrogant or rude, always assumes the best, always believes, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God always keeps his word, it is impossible for him to lie. We have a covenant with him based on what he said and we must believe him by faith. He wants to prove that you can trust him. His word is the truth and he will not break it. God also wants the best for you. He wants to make you great and has good plans for you that are better than anything you could ever imagine.

Once you understand God's vision and that you can trust him to lead you the Holy Spirit will begin to show you your purpose. Your purpose will involve helping God fulfill his vision by helping people. It will involve your gifts, talents, and experiences. God will not waste anything. But, your purpose will look impossible because you will need God's help, the help of others, and probably won't be able to complete it in your lifetime.

The Holy Spirit was also sent to give you power. Don't be surprised if supernatural things start happening when your life gets coordinated with the Holy Spirit.
