Focus on speaking life today... With the words that you speak and the tone you speak with. 

Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 

Let your speech always be seasoned with grace. 

Let's ask God to help us speak life today. 

Here is this week's Yearly Cycle communion meditation.

As we start this new year, this is a time to be thinking about goals and what you want to accomplish this year. Once we set a goal I do think it's important to keep the goal top of mind so that it reminds you to stay on track. But sometimes having a goal can put excess pressure on you, which makes it even harder to reach the goal. 

When I played baseball in college, I went through a time when I was putting pressure on myself to perform well, but the harder I tried the worse I did. Finally I decided to simply enjoy playing baseball, and when I did this, I pitched some of the best games of my career and it felt easy and effortless.

Yesterday I read Deuteronomy 12:7 which says, "Rejoice in all you do, because the LORD your God has blessed you."

By rejoicing in everything we set our hand to this year, it will greatly accelerate our results. 

In today's communion we are asking God to help us remember to rejoice in everything we do because he is with us.
