Here is today's communion meditation.
Ephesians 3:12 says... In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.
And Hebrews 4:16 says...Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
When we pray and approach God we can do so with both freedom and confidence because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Sometimes we feel like we have missed it and we approach God with some doubt that he really wants to help us. But, in Christ we have been made righteous and holy, and God wants to help today.
In the Old Testament there were all sorts of regulations on approaching God. They couldn't just walk right into his presence. And even when the High Priest would approach God, he couldn't really do so confidently because there was the chance he could be killed.
In the New Covenant we have the amazing gift of being able to approach God with freedom and confidence to find help in our time of need, but we must put this into practice.
As we take communion today it is a time of gratitude for this amazing gift God has given us and we are asking for help to approach him and pray with confidence. Not confidence in ourselves, but confidence in the sacrifice of Jesus and that God wants to help.
I am praying for you.
