Good morning!
Here is today's communion meditation.
The other day we talked about how Paul told Timothy to continue in the things he had learned and become convinced of.
And yesterday we talked about Romans 4:21 which is about Abraham. It says, " He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises."
As I was thinking about this Proverbs 28:23 kept coming to mind. It says, "Whoever rebukes a person will in the end gain favor rather than one who has a flattering tongue."
At first glance this verse doesn't have anything to do with becoming convinced but when I started to dig a little deeper, I discovered some interesting things.
The word for 'rebuke," in Hebrew can mean rebuke, reprove, correct, judge, or convince. And I came across some Hebrew teaching that says it can also mean "give clarity."
The word for "flattery," is usually translated as divide in Hebrew.
So we could read this scripture something like... Whoever gives a person clarity so that they are convinced gains favor in the end, rather than someone who divides and causes confusion with the tongue.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand and apply this scripture.
