Galatians 3:13-14 says Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
What is the blessing given to Abraham?
In Genesis 12:2 God tells Abraham "And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you [abundantly], And make your name great (exalted, distinguished); And you shall be a blessing [a source of great good to others];"
Lately, I have been thinking about heaven and what it is like. Yes, there will be gold streets and beauty, but I think the greatest thing will be God and people. People working together in a beautiful way. But, for an entire community to be thriving it all goes back to the individuals in the community living the right way. Living connected to God, being good stewards of all God has given them, and relating to other people in the right way.
The thought of truly making a difference in this world can feel a little overwhelming, but I think we can start with making our own world a little better. We can start by connecting with God and walking out his plan for our life. By being good stewards of all he has given to us and keeping things in order. By bringing some fun, presence, peace, and joy into our day. And by changing the way we relate to other people and making it a goal to make their day a little better and bring out the best in them, even if they push our buttons.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that Jesus has redeemed us from the curse of the law in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come upon us, that we would be blessed to be a blessing. And we are asking for God's help to make a difference for the people around us today.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
It's a whole lot easier to serve others and be a blessing when we feel great. When we don't feel well, we all have a tendency to want to turn inward. Part of being blessed to be a blessing is learning to tap into the health God put within us and being good stewards of our bodies. And then using the health and energy God gives to be a blessing to others.
I am praying for you.
