In September we are focusing on Financial Stewardship...becoming great stewards who manage, multiply, and greatly increase all that God has entrusted to us.
Recently I feel like God has been prompting me to do a communion meditation on Ecclesiastes 11, where Solomon says to cast your bread upon the water. To be honest I am not sure what God is trying to show us in this passage, but many people relate these verses to investing.
In today's communion we are asking God for wisdom and insight into the following passage, and for help to walk out whatever he shows us.
Here is the passage from Ecclesiastes 11:1-7:
Cast your bread upon the waters for you will find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.
If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will lie.
4 He who observes the wind will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb[a] of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.
Today's Health and Fitness Tip
The evening of September 25th is the Feast of Trumpets and starts the 10 Days of Awe. During this time every year I do a 10 day Daniel Fast. To celebrate the Feast of Trumpets the tradition is to eat apples with honey on the evening of September 25th to symbolize it being a sweet new year, because this is like new year's even in the Jewish culture. After the apples with honey, I start my Daniel Fast the next morning.
