The other day I learned that when there are big quick changes in air pressure it can cause the water that comes out of the sink to be cloudy because it has more air in it. We had a day when the temperature went from about 30 degrees up to the mid 50s and this also changed the air pressure, which caused some cloudy water. This reminded me of a communion meditation we did a few months ago on Priming the Pump.
In that communion meditation we said that God has placed a well of living water inside of us, but the pump must be primed to remove all of the air so that the water flows. This happens by the pump using mechanical pressure to pull the air out of the pipeline. In the Old Testament and New Testament the word for Spirit is translated as wind or breath. Praying in the Spirit primes the pump and removes the air out of the pipeline(the prayers God needs prayed) so that the living water flows.
But sometimes we go through times of lower pressure or have quick changes in the pressure we experience in our lives. During these times air can get into the water making it cloudy, and one of the things we will experience is a lack of clarity. When the water from the sink was cloudy and we poured it into a glass, all of the cloudiness would vanish if we simply let the glass of water sit on the counter for a couple of minutes.
So, there are two ways I believe we can eliminate cloudy water. We can apply our own internal pressure by praying in the Spirit consistently every day. And if we are ever feeling cloudy or unclear, we can slow down and get still for a couple of minutes.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the well of living water he put within us, and we are asking for his help to keep the water flowing and clear.
Today's Workout Health Tip
In the workouts there is a sweet spot. There is a threshold that needs to be crossed to get results. And this is usually just showing up the right way with presence and focus and making each rep beautiful. But there is also another threshold that we shouldn't cross where it is too much. Most people like to workout on the other side of this threshold. Beyond this threshold is just overkill and the potential to make ourselves sore or injured without really getting much results. The sweet spot is to be between these two thresholds.
This can also be applied to nutrition. The body needs enough food and nutrients to be healthy, have energy, and perform well in our workouts, but not enough to store extra body fat. And our hunger level can often give us the cue where this level is. Eat consistently balanced meals but pay attention to your hunger levels. If you are overly hungry then eat but avoid eating past the threshold where you feel stuffed and too full. I am also starting to believe that if we master this, we can train the body to be able to eat more and more while still staying lean.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
