Here is today's communion meditation.
In life we need a balance of consistency and variety. Consistency is how we develop skills, and over the last year we have talked a lot about how consistent repetition leads to greatness. In life one of the keys is to find the things that really matter and repeat them often, usually daily. Sometimes people get bored with repetition, which is why it is important to bring presence and energy into the things we are practicing consistently.
But we also need variety, to keep things fresh and break us through to new levels. Something I have found is that life often gives us a lot of variety without having to plan for it. God has built change into the world to keep nudging us forward, and changes in the world offer variety that can help us break through plateaus. We can see this variety as a bad thing because it messes up our consistency, but it often is the thing that triggers new growth to the next level. God often opens doors to new things and it is important to be flexible and adaptable when new opportunities arise.
Today's communion is a time of where we are asking for God to help us get this balance of consistency and variety implemented into our lives the way he designed it to function.
Today's Health/Workout Tip
Here is how we are balancing consistency and variety in the Daily Communion Workouts. The workout is the same thing every day, but life is going to present all kinds of opportunities for variety within the workout that is the same every day. For example, I do my workout in my garage gym and some days it is cold, while some days it is hotter, and this makes a difference. Sometimes the time of day when I workout varies. Sometimes I have a workout partner, other times I don't. Occasionally, we will go to the gym and execute the workout, which means slightly different equipment. Sometimes we are out of town, and I have to improvise. These are all ways the workout varies even though it is the same every day.
Outside of the workout the goal is to be as active as possible, which means walking, hiking, running, biking, dancing, tennis, racquetball, basketball, or whatever other opportunity presents. Have fun, move more, and get a ton of variety in your movement. This will also help you break through to new levels.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
