There was a time when I felt God showed me that since I had loved when I didn't feel like loving I was ready for covenant. In the New Covenant God has promised to do good for us continually. He had made a covenant commitment to do good for us and he is unwavering in this and will not break his commitment. I believe this is one of the most important things to understand. There are probably plenty of times when we miss it and God doesn't really feel like doing good for us at the moment, but he keeps his covenant commitment anyway. This is an amazing gift of grace, and we must learn to do the same.
We are supposed to love others the way God has loved us. And when we choose to love and do good for others even when we don't feel like it, we are keeping our part of the covenant.
In today's communion we are thanking God for his covenant commitment to us, and we are asking for his help to do good and love even when we don't feel it.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
A great way to practice keeping our commitments is in our workouts. There will be plenty of days when we don't feel like exercising, but we can choose to keep our commitment. It is often on these days that some of the biggest breakthroughs come.
Yearly Cycle Update
Today is Ash Wednesday, which is the start of Lent. On this day many people place ashes on their forehead as a symbol of humility and repentance. And during Lent many people abstain from things such as meat, coffee, alcohol, etc. In Exodus 31:16-17 it says that on the 7th day God abstained from work and rested.
This time of year is a reminder to abstain from is our own works, rest, and allow God to work through us. But this requires confidence in God rather than ourselves. Confidence that God will come through and never let us down.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
