Yesterday was the Day of Atonement, which is like the close of the year on God's calendar. As we think of closing the year, I think it's important to put some closure to things and not dwell on the past.
Isaiah 43:18-21 says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.
In today's communion we are thanking God for the new thing he is doing and that he chose us to proclaim his praise. And we are asking him to help us close things out and not dwell on the past.
Today's Health and Fitness Tip
In a few days we start the Feast of Tabernacles, which is like a fall harvest festival, and a reminder to rejoice because God is tabernacling with us. During this time the tradition is to eat stuffed foods like stuffed peppers, stuffed cabbage leaves, or things with filling as a reminder that God is filling us.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
