Don't Go Out the Way You Came In

Listen to the Audio

In Ezekiel 46:9 God told the people that when they came to the temple to worship they were to enter from one side and exit through the opposite side. They were not to leave the same way they came in, but in the straight or opposite direction. Think about nutrition and exercise.. Food goes into our bodies, but then it gets metabolized or converted into energy, and comes out of the body in the form of work and action. It comes out differently than it went in.

It is the conversion in the middle where the miracles happen and I believe it is the same with God. Jesus said if we would see with our eyes, hear with our ears (this is input), then understand with our hearts and turn(this is where the conversion happens), then the action or result on the other side would be healing.. and in Deuteronomy it says that prosperity also comes after turning to the Lord.

A prism is another example of this. Light comes in one way, is transformed in the middle by the slowing down of the light, and a rainbow comes out on the other side. In our relationship with God these same three phases are very important. We are to take in his word(like nutrition), but then it must be metabolized and turned into action. I believe the metabolizing and converting that happens in the middle comes through meditation. The Psalms tell us that meditating on God's unfailing love and mighty works give us understanding in our hearts. And Colossians 1:6 says the gospel bears fruit in our lives ever since the day we understood God's grace. Meditating on God's love, power, and that he is working continually for our good leads to hearts that understand. And understanding leads to different actions. Think about a kid learning do multiply numbers. Once they understand how to do it, they can turn that understanding into the correct actions and answers when faced with a problem.

Every time we take communion it is an opportunity to meditate on God's unfailing love, his power, and his grace. Communion can transform us so that we go forward from it transformed, which leads to knowing what to do.

I am praying for you.
