Last week I was able to visit with my parents for the first time in a while. While visiting with them I was reminded that they are both great encouragers. I was blessed to have parents who have always been very encouraging. I understand that not everyone had parents who were encouraging, so I am very grateful for this. We all need courage every day, and when we encourage others, we are giving them courage. It is great blessing in our life to have people around us who will encourage us.
Hebrews 3:12-14 says, "See to it, brothers, that none of you has a wicked heart of unbelief that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Notice in this verse that encouraging others also keeps us from being hardened.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God encourages us, and we can encourage ourselves in the Lord. And we are asking for his help to become great encouragers of others.
Today's Health/Fitness Tip
Something I have seen in my years of working with people in the gym, is that staying encouraged is one of the most important things. When we get discouraged with our progress or by some set back it can totally derail us. We must learn the skill of encouraging ourselves in the Lord, because we can't always rely on others to encourage us. Then we can take the encouragement we find in the Lord and use it to encourage others.
I am praying for you.
