Find Joy In Your Work

Listen to the Audio

Reading through the book of Ecclesiastes we see King Solomon chasing after all sorts of things to find meaning and fulfillment, but all of it he says is meaningless and chasing after the wind. But over and over he repeats this phrase... There is nothing better than for people to eat, drink, and find enjoyment in their work. this is a gift from God he says, because who can find enjoyment without him.

I think there is a lot of wisdom in what Solomon is saying, because it takes so much pressure off and greatly simplifies life when we simply focus on finding the joy in whatever we are doing.

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God is the source of our joy, and in his presence, there is fullness of joy. And we are asking for his help to eat, drink, enjoy our work, and do good.

Here are some scriptures from Ecclesiastes to meditate on today...

Ecclesiastes 2:24-25  A person can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in their own toil. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, For apart from Him, who can eat and who can find enjoyment?

Ecclesiastes 3:12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.

Ecclesiastes 3:22 So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot.

Ecclesiastes 9:7-10 So go eat your food and enjoy it; drink your wine and be happy, because that is what God wants you to do.8 Put on nice clothes and make yourself look good.9 Enjoy life with the wife you love. Enjoy all the useless days of this useless life God has given you here on earth, because it is all you have. So enjoy the work you do here on earth.10 Whatever work you do, do your best

Today's Workout/Health Tip

One of the goals of exercise is to find the joy of movement. It feels great to move. Exercise is meant to be a time to connect with God and physically experience him doing the work through us. It is supposed to be fun. As Solomon would say there is nothing better, than finding the joy of exercise as a way to connect with God.

I am praying for you.
