Here is today's communion meditation.
Sometimes we or people we are dealing with get into bad habits or patterns that begin to grow very powerful and become very hard to break. Thankfully, in these situations God can grant repentance. To repent means we have a true change of heart and turn around. When we truly have a change of heart the whole trajectory of our life changes.
2 Timothy 2:22-26 says Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24 And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
A grant is a free gift. God can give us the free gift of repentance. And if we are dealing with difficult people the most powerful thing we can do is be kind and gentle with them, which is the opposite of how we tend to react. We can do this in the hope that God will grant them repentance.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the amazing gift of repentance. And we are asking him for a heavenly grant of repentance if needed and for his help to be kind and gentle and help us rid our hearts of resentfulness with those who are wronging us.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
