Psalm 138:2 NKJV says, " I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name."
Apparently this is a hard passage to translate from Hebrew into English so here are a few other versions to give us a little better understanding.
God has magnified his word or exalted it above all things and he backs it with the power of his name. His name is his character, reputation, and who he is. When someone makes a promise we want to know that they are going to be faithful to fulfill, and God has exalted his word by backing all of his promises with his name.
We can also magnify God's word and give it a bigger place in our lives. In today's communion we are asking God for help to magnify his word in our lives, which means we need to know what his word says. For anyone who has struggled to read their Bible consistently we are asking God for help to read and understand his word consistently.
I am praying for you.
