July 19th and God's Favor

While writing 7 Dates With Jesus there was a day when God began to teach me about his favor. His favor surrounds us like a shield and is on us for a lifetime. While writing I felt God was prompting me to record the date and it was July 19th. Every year since then he has reminded me of his favor on July 19th, which is today. 

God has given us his favor as a free gift but just like any other gift we could choose not to receive it or just let it sit in the closet unused. God's favor is something we can grow in. Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and favor with God and man. To have favor with someone means opportunities. God can open doors and create opportunities that nobody else can. 

Here are some ways to grow in this favor God has given us. 

First it must be received by faith and one of the greatest expressions of faith is gratitude. Start thanking God for his favor regularly. Two other keys to receiving his favor are righteousness and humility. Favor comes as a gift because of the righteousness we have in Christ. It is not something we earned. We have right standing and unmerited favor with God because of what Jesus did. This leads to humility because we didn't earn it. It is undeserved. 

Once we have received it we must learn to trust in it by taking the pressure off of ourselves and learning to trust in God to open doors rather than trying to force them open ourselves. The other big key to walking in higher levels of this gift of favor is presence. 2 Corinthians 6:2 says NOW is the time of God's favor. In the Abundant Life Blueprint presence is the grace table turner. It turns the tables and allows God's grace and favor to flow. Getting more present in your day, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, is one of the best ways to see an increase in God's favor flowing. Joy is our indicator of presence. When we are more present we experience more joy. Here is the pathway for this - getting more present and aware of God's presence with you leads to growing in favor and our indicator that this is happening is joy, because in God's presence there is fullness of joy. 

Our goal in the Abundant Life Blueprint is to make other people great, but this is nearly impossible to do without growing in God's favor. 

As we take communion today let it be a time to receive God's favor and a turning point that from this point on we are going to grow to higher levels of walking in God's favor.

1.  What were your wins over the last 24 hours?
2. Did you have overflowing levels of peace? It is either yes or no.
3. Did you have overflowing levels of joy? It is either yes or no. 
4. What do you know to do over the next 24 hours? List little things + things you feel God is prompting.
5. What is the most important thing you feel God is teaching you over the last 24 hour?

3) Meditate on the daily communion teaching for a few minutes.

4) Take communion. At our house we take communion daily and keep a box of matzo crackers and grape juice on hand. 

5) Execute your plan with a good attitude trusting that God is helping you.
