Philippians 2:6-11 says, "Who(Jesus), existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross.…
Therefore, God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.…"
The other day as I read this verse it got me thinking about the humility that it took for Jesus to do this. To consider who he is and what he was willing to do is amazing. All throughout the Bible there is a pattern that those who humble themselves will be exalted and those that exalt themselves will be humbled, and pride leads to the fall. In Jesus we see the ultimate example of this. Total humility led to him being exalted to the highest place.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the humility of Jesus, and we are asking God for help to walk in a greater level of humility.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
One of the ways we can practice applying humility is in our exercise. There can be a tendency to get into pride and do too much work or lift too much weight. In my experience this leads to burn out and issues. But when we humble ourselves by staying with exercises and weights that are at the correct level for us, even if it means cutting it back more than we think we need to, it leads to better progress over the long term.
I am praying for you.
