Here is today's communion meditation.
What is the fear of the Lord? The Amplified Bible defines it as reverence and regarding God as truly awesome. I think of it as awe, honor, and respect for him, where we fear not having God in our lives, and make it our goal to do what is pleasing to him.
The other night I was reading Deuteronomy 31:9-13 with my kids and it says...
9 So Moses wrote down this law and gave it to the Levitical priests, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel. 10 Then Moses commanded them: “At the end of every seven years, in the year for canceling debts, during the Festival of Tabernacles, 11 when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing. 12 Assemble the people—men, women and children, and the foreigners residing in your towns—so they can listen and learn to fear the Lord your God and follow carefully all the words of this law. 13 Their children, who do not know this law, must hear it and learn to fear the Lord your God as long as you live in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
In this passage there is a connecting between listening/hearing God's word and learning to fear the Lord, which makes sense because Romans tells us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes by the Word of God. And fearing the Lord is what allows us to live long in the land he has for us.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that we have God in our lives, and we are asking him to help us, and our children learn to fear him.
Today's Health/Workout Tip
One of the exercises on the Daily Communion Workout is Farmers Walks, which is just walking while carrying weights. Think of carrying buckets or luggage. This trains the hands, ankles, and really the whole body. Something I have learned to do is finish every workout with something that trains the hands. I think of this as sealing in the workout at the end. If you don't have weights or something you can carry, then you can work on squeezing the hands or a tennis ball. Training the hands and grip is a great way to finish every workout.
I am praying for you.
