Once I was doing a science experiment with my kids where we turned a nail into a temporary magnet. If you take a magnet and brush the magnet along a nail in only one direction and then repeat this 30,40, or 50 times it will turn the nail into a magnet. Each pass of the magnet begins to align all of the molecules in the nail in the same direction and once alignment is created the nail turns into a magnet, but notice it takes consistent repetition over and over in the same direction. 

The nail will continue to be magnetic until it is shaken, hit, or pressure is put on it which causes the molecules to become disordered and lose their alignment. 

Yesterday we said that faith is confidence, and confidence is the place where all the doubt is removed, and we have everything aligned in the same direction. When we get to the place of confident faith through consistent practice it becomes magnetic and pulls all God has for us into our lives. But, life will try to shake us and put pressure on us at times to cause us to lose this confident faith and magnetism. 

In today's communion we are thanking God that our confidence can be unwavering because it is in Him, not in ourselves. And we are asking for his help to have this magnetism functioning in our lives the way he designed it to function. 

Today's Workout/Health Tip

Recently I learned about this magnetism through the workouts. I had been practicing the same weights over and over for about 60-90 days. And each day was like running the magnet along the nail, creating alignment. Eventually the exercises I was doing became easy, and I noticed that my confidence with the weights and exercises had greatly increased. It seemed like as soon as I got to the place of confidence, I jumped to a new level that was higher than I expected, and it happened very quickly (think of the speed at which magnets snap together) I believe the magnetic factor came into play. An interesting thing about this magnetism is that until everything is aligned nothing happens, and then as soon as there is alignment the magnet is created and begins to pull quickly.
