Making Decisions

We are all faced with decisions whether big decisions or small ones, but what is our process for making decisions?
Decisions can be full of pressure to figure out the correct way to go or we can roll the pressure onto God and ask for him help. Decisions that we make today can be full of so many unknowns in the future, but thankfully God wants to help.
The other day the main car we use for our family broke down, so we are faced with a decision on what do to. We could make this decision on our own but we have learned that it's much better to rely on God help. Here are some steps I have learned to take when faced with decisions like this...
- First get positioned in the light. Often times we make emotional quick decisions that are not good. Start praising and thanking God that he knows which way to go and he eagerly desires to show us.
- Seek God and roll the pressure of it over onto him by asking for his help. This is where we have to stop toiling away in our minds, meditating on the decision, making our pro and con lists, etc. Truly give it to God and stop worrying about it.
- Wait for him to show the way. This is a hard one because often we have timelines or deadlines to make decisions and we want to know right away.
- Stay positioned in the light by continuing to praise and thank him for the answer and follow peace on the inside. If you will wait he will show you exactly what to do and you will have a knowing on the inside. If you don't know... wait!
- Then once you know it's time to move forward... But sometimes the step or action will require some faith and courage.
- But, you can rest assured that whatever decision you know to make is the best one and God will sustain it. Whatever path God leads you to is the one that God will sustain by his grace. The paths that we choose on our own might look good but they are often not God's best and the grace is not there.
In today's communion meditation we are thanking God that because of Jesus we have him in our lives and he is eager to help us make the best decisions. And we are asking him for his help in our decision making.
I am praying for you.
