• The goal of marriage: Two people who are continually looking to be a blessing to their partner and make them great. And build a life that is better than either could do on their own. 
• Love vs Cherish - Love puts up with your spouse while cherish seeks to keep them from pain and give them the desires of their heart. One of the ways you can do this is by spending a few minutes visualizing your spouses day looking for areas to be a blessing. 
• Connection is more important that communication. In all communication you can either be trying to connect or get away. 
• Spouses often have different opinions and perspectives but this is good because it helps you find the truth. This requires that we become better listeners. 
• Catching Bids: Every time your partner tries to connect with you catch the bid by engaging with them. Low bid catching is one of the biggest predictors of poor marriages because it is a lack of honor.  
• Vicious Cycles: When women don't feels unconditional love, presence, grace, and security from their husbands their natural tendency is to close off and when men don't feel faith, belief, and gratitude from their wives they tend to give the silent treatment and withdraw. This can feed a vicious cycle but it only takes one person to break the cycle. 
• Praise: Try only praise and no criticism of your spouse for 10 days. 
• Doing finances together: It is important for both spouses to be in agreement in the area of finances.
