The other day on a show my kids were watching they were talking about being expert builders. When I heard this 1 Corinthians chapter 3 came to mind, where Paul talks about how by God's grace, he laid a foundation like a wise or master builder.
Here is 1 Corinthians 3:10-15
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise/master builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the foundation of Jesus Christ, and we are asking God to help us build upon that foundation in a way that will truly last.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
Notice in the scripture above how Paul laid the foundation by grace. One of the interesting things about grace is that God can make it abound. In the Daily Communion Workout one of the goals is to learn how to see this grace abounding through us. To abound means to increase greatly and the root words imply the idea of big waves or surges that increase us greatly. Recently in the Daily Communion Workouts I experienced this. Over the last 3-4 days I had a huge surge of progress. I had been practicing with the same exact weights for 2-3 months and then all of the sudden it was like everything clicked and the weights became very easy. Then I increased the weights but even the increased weights were too easy, so I increased them again. This is the way progress often happens. It will seem like nothing is happening day to day and then all of the sudden a huge surge will come.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
