For God's word to be effective in our lives it must be mixed with faith.
I think of faith as the emotion of believing and the opposite is fear.
Based on what we truly believe in our hearts either faith or fear will begin to rise up.
In Hebrews 4:1-2 it says, "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. 2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
In the Old Testament God promised to take the people to the promised land but his word was not mixed with faith.
Upon spying out the land most of the people came back with a bad or evil report that magnified the size of the giants rather than the greatness of God who had already parted the Red Sea, defeated the Egyptians, fed them manna, and gave them water from the rock. The result was that all of the people who magnified the giants never made it to the promised land.
God's word must be mixed with faith to be effective in our lives, but for faith to rise up we must firm up what we believe in our heart to be true about God. Taking time to magnify the greatness of God each day can help get us to a place where faith rises up and his word profits us because it is mixed with faith.
I am praying for you.
