More Than a One Man Show

Listen to the Audio

In John 16:7 Jesus told the disciples, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you."

In this time of the year, after Easter, Jesus was preparing to go from a one man show with him doing everything, to the disciples taking over. Yes, there were times that he sent them out, but this was going be different. He was going away and putting them in charge. He had to go away so that his Spirit could live within us, which is better.

Recently, I had some conversations with some businesspeople about how one of the hardest steps in any organization, business, or ministry is for the founder to get out of the way and let the people really grow and scale the business up. When one person bears all of the responsibility it can be a very heavy burden to bear. We see an example of this in the Old Testament, where Moses is bearing the burden of all the people, and it was too much for him, so God put the spirit that was on Moses on the elders of the people as well.

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that because Jesus went away, we now have his Spirit living within us, which is better for us. And for anyone who is a leader of an organization we are asking God for insight and understanding of how to walk in this principle the way he intended.

Today's Workout/Health Tip

On the Daily Communion Workout, several of the exercises are what are referred to as compound exercises. This means the exercises work more than one joint. Examples would be squats, pushups, shoulder presses, deadlifts, and walking lunges. These compound exercises produce a radiation effect, that trains the whole body. These exercises cause the whole body to work in unity together, which trains the whole body and not just the direct muscles being trained. There is a lot of debate in the fitness world on whether we should be doing isolated exercises for specific parts of the body or compound movements that train the whole body. I believe we need both. Strengthen individual parts and integrate them into the whole body working together.

I am praying for you.
