One of the names of God is El Shaddai, which means all sufficient one, or the God who is more than enough.
Recently we had some boards on our deck that needed to be replaced. When I went to Home Depot to buy replacement boards there were composite decking boards right above the wood, that matched the color of our deck exactly. As I was looking at the composite decking I felt like God was nudging me to redo our whole deck with composite, even though it would be more money.
So I called a friend who does decking and asked him for a quote to redo our whole deck with composite decking and the quote was just under $4,000. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend that much money at the time, but it seemed like the best thing to do for our house.
Over the last several months I have been helping manage properties for other people and whenever work is needed, I usually don't do the work or pay for it. But I function in a type of trustee/manager role to see what needs to be done and organize the work.
Through this time God has been teaching me, that the things that he has given us, he sustains, but we manage in a trustee type of role. We take action to do what needs to be done, and trust that he will pay for it.
With all this in mind we had our deck redone. Once the work was done, I paid with a check. But before the check cleared, I received notice that we were getting an unexpected tax refund of around $7,500.
When God pays for something he is always more than enough. Isaiah 40:2 says that Jesus paid double for what our sins deserve.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand that he is more than enough. And to help us convert our understanding into knowing what to do.
Today's Health and Fitness Tip
God is also more than enough in our health and fitness. If we will function as a trustee over our bodies and take action he will supply more than enough grace, energy, and strength to do the work.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
