Earlier this week on our partner's Zoom call we discussed the importance of putting something physical with what we are doing. For example, writing down or speaking things we are grateful for is not the same as just thinking thoughts of gratitude. Thoughts on the inside are in a digital form, but when we physically express them into the world through speaking, writing, moving, action, etc there is a conversion that happens, and it turns into analog form that helps to us remember and not forget.
One of the words that came up on our Zoom call this week was a "witness," or a "testimony." When we physically express things into the world it creates a witness or testimony, and the Bible tells us that every fact must be established by the testimony of 2-3 witnesses. Which is why it is important to express things into the world in more than one way. For example, we have recently talked about combining communion, journaling, and physical exercise. Three things that we actually do to help us remember God is with us. And there is a synergy that happens when all three are combined together that helps us to get the New Covenant established in our heart.
While meditating on these things, I was in a meeting the next day and one of the people in the meeting said, "He needed to write something down, because if he wrote it down then he wouldn't forget."
Then that night I read the following in James 1:22 -25...
22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
In today's communion we are thanking God for this principle to help us remember and not forget that he is with us and all he has done in our lives. And we are asking for his help to grow in our application of this principle to help us remember.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
There are some aspects of physical exercise that can only be learned and understood by actually doing the exercise. We can only learn so much from a book and watching videos. There are intricacies that can only be learned by doing the workouts. So read and watch videos enough to know how to get started safely and then get started, because things make a whole lot more sense when we do them. I also believe the Bible is the same way. There are some things that can only be learned and understood in the Bible through experience.
I am praying for you.
