Recently I was reminded that one big decision changes all of the little decisions we make throughout the day. The other day after watching wrestling I decided that I was going to cut my bodyweight down to 184lbs. Immediately, when I made this decision, it began to impact all of the little decisions I would make throughout the day about food and exercise. The one big decision became the filter for all of the other decisions. Think of this like setting a destination into a GPS. Once the destination is entered all of the little steps on the path show up.
This principle comes from the one big decision we have... To make Jesus the Lord of our life.
To make him Lord means we do what he says. The one big decision becomes the filter for our thoughts, words, and all of the little decisions we make. This now means forgiving and loving others, giving other people grace, being generous, and walking out his plan and purpose rather than our own. But until we come to a firm unwavering decision nothing happens, we sit idle, drifting through the day, tossed back and forth by whatever is coming at us.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that once we come to a firm decision to make Jesus Lord, it simplifies life so much, because it helps us filter everything we do. And we are asking for his help to make this firm decision and walk it out.
Today's Workout/Health Tip
What decision or target can you set in your health and fitness over the next 6-8 weeks. Let's make a commitment to a target. Something I have learned to do once a target is set, is to write the target at the top of my journal several times before bed every night. I learned this years ago in my gym business. My business had grown pretty rapidly but we become stuck at around $25,000 per month in revenue and couldn't seem to breakthrough. I made the decision that we were going to make $30,000 the next month and I started writing $30k, $30k, $30k all over the top of my journal every night. And that month was the first month we broke through that barrier. When I set the goal the other day of cutting to 184lbs I started writing 184lbs, 184lbs, 184lbs at the top of my journal every night. This easy practice helps to keep the target in focus throughout the day so that it impacts our little decisions.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
