Here is today's communion meditation.
In Genesis 11 is the story of the Tower of Babel. And verse 6 says, "The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun(pierced) to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible(withheld) for them."
The Hebrew word for begun is actually translated as pierced, and I came across some Jewish teaching on this scripture stating that the people were trying to build a tower that would pierce the heavens, so that all the wrath God was storing up for them would not be able to be stored.
I think this also has a reciprocal, we can pierce the heavens, to release all that God has for us. Notice in the verse above that nothing would be withheld after they had pierced the heavens.
When Jesus was pierced on his side there was a sudden flow of blood and water. In a similar when, when we pierce the heavens there is a sudden flow of living water.
In today's communion we are asking God to teach us about piercing the heaven's so that there is a sudden flow of everything he has.
