Here is today's communion meditation.
Earlier this week I was talking with one of our partners in the Abundant Life Blueprint and she was telling me how she has been practicing slowing down and connecting with God during the day. She was sitting down, praying, and getting still for a few minutes and her husband asked her what she was doing. She responded with... Powering Up!
The thought of powering up sounds a whole lot better than slowing down and waiting. When we slow down and connect with God it is like recharging our batteries and charging us up. A similar thing also happens when we pray in the Holy Spirit.. it powers us up. Jude 1:20-21 says But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. And1 Corinthians 14:4 says, “He that speaks in an unknown tongue edifies himself
The Greek word that is used for building/edifying has a similar meaning to charging a battery or powering up. When we slow down, connect with God, and pray in the Holy Spirit it charges our batteries. When my kids were babies and waking up through the night, I found this to be true. I would pray in the Spirit during the night when I was up with them and wake up still feeling refreshed.
In today's communion we are asking God for his help in powering up each day. And if you have never received the gift of praying in the spirit and would like to, we are asking God for this amazing gift. If you have already received this gift from God, let today's communion be a reminder for us to stay powered up by praying in the Holy Spirit regularly.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
