In the world of business or real estate a contract is considered ratified once it is confirmed and approved by both sides signing off on the agreement. To be ratified means that it is fully enforce and from that point on it must be changed by writing an amendment to the contract or writing a contract that overrides the previous one. The new covenant has been ratified in the blood of Jesus and it overrides the old covenant law, it supersedes the law.
Here are some scriptures on covenants being ratified...
And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup, which is poured out for you, is the new covenant [ratified] in My blood. Luke 20:12
In the same way, after supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant [ratified and established] in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in [affectionate] remembrance of Me.” 1 Corinthians 11:25
Brothers, I’m using a human illustration. No one sets aside or makes additions to even a human covenant that has been ratified. And I say this: The law, which came 430 years later, does not revoke a covenant that was previously ratified by God and cancel the promise. Galatians 3:15 and 17
Now may the God of peace [the source of serenity and spiritual well-being] who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood that sealed and ratified the eternal covenant. Hebrews 13:20
God also gives confirmation of his covenants. Here are some scriptures...
But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. Deuteronomy 8:18
Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it. Mark 16:20
So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to perform signs and wonders. Acts 14:3
As we take communion today let it be a reminder that the New Covenant has been fully ratified in the blood of Jesus. Once a contract has been ratified each side has obligations to fulfill and usually with timelines. God is fulfilling his obligations. Our role is to believe and trust in him by following what he asks us to do and to walk in love.
I am praying for you.
