Here is today's communion meditation.
When we enjoy times of recreation, we re-create ourselves. When we enjoy times of recreation and play like a kid it re-creates us from the inside out. And I believe times of recreation can be great times of connecting with God. I have found that some of the greatest ideas and revelations come during times of recreation. But to build more recreation into our lives we must be proactive in planning it and making it a priority.
Life needs to have a balance of work and play. And if we can turn our work into times of recreation even better.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that in God's presence there is fullness of joy. And we are asking for his help to have more fun and to have recreation be part of our lives the way he intended it to be.
Today's Health/Workout Tip
What do you do if something hurts during your workout? Here is the approach that I take... Do what I can do with no pain. Don't do things that hurt. The first thing I do if a movement hurts is to reduce the amount of resistance used. For example, if I normally use 50 pounds I cut it back to 40, 30, 20, etc to see if there is a level I can do with no pain. If there is then I start at this level and work over time to restore the resistance back to the normal level. If it is on a bodyweight exercise like pushups then I would try an easier version such as pushups on my knees or a countertop. If reducing the resistance doesn't help, then I reduce the range of motion. Can I do half of the exercise without pain? If yes, then I start from there and work to restore the range of motion over time. If I can't even do a small portion of the range of motion without pain, then I cut the exercise out completely for a while... but not forever. I will cut it out temporarily but over time will try to reintroduce the exercise again.
This simple little process works very well. First reduce the weight, if that doesn't work reduce the range of motion, if that doesn't work then do something else for a little while.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
