Yearly Cycle Updates

40 Days of Teshuva
We are currently in the 40 Days of Teshuva. This is a time or repentance and taking action. To repent means to turn. If you will begin to make adjustments this is a time when things will often turn. Take action on anything in your conscience, work on crossing items off your mental to-do list, and reconcile all relationships, including financial relationships. If there are any bills you need to get current on then take steps in the right direction.

Fri 9/18 - Feast of Trumpets
The evening of Sept, 18th starts the Feast of Trumpets. This night is like the Jewish New Year, and we eat apples with honey to symbolize it will be a sweet new year. This evening also starts the 10 Days of Awe, which are the 10 days leading up to the Day of Atonement. During these 10 days I do a Daniel Fast. These will often be 10 of the most productive days of the whole year.

9/27-9/28 Day of Atonement
The Day of Atonement is the final day of the 40 Days of Teshuva and the 10 Days of Awe. For those that are able this day is a total fast from all food and water from the evening of the 27th to the evening of the 28th. If you have gone through the 40 days and taken action you will experience some of the highest levels of mental clarity you have ever had.

The Day of Atonement is also the big deadline for the year: I use this as a major deadline to get projects done. Where do you want to be by Sept 28th? When done correctly this makes time slow down and you will find that you can get way more done than normal.

Here are some things I have been thinking about...

In the video I reference some books I have been reading. Here are the books.

  • Outwitting the Devil by Napolean Hill
  • Antifragile by Nassim Taleb
  • The 80/20 Principle and 92 Other Powerful Laws of Nature by Richard Koch

Spiritual

  1. God makes things beautiful. He wants to make things healthy and beautiful. Think of this like a spectrum from unhealthy/disfunctional, healthy, and then beautiful.
  2. God is progressive. He wants to do more this year than last year. Old journals can be a great source of inspiration and tracking personal growth from year to year.
  3. Everything interesting happens at the edge or boundary where 2 worlds come together

Mindset/Emotions

  1. Habits come in groups. Starting one good or bad habit usually leads to more.
  2. Rhythm is the final stage of habit development.
  3. Simple processes repeated over and over lead to beautiful and diverse results.

Grace

  1. God's name is "I Am," meaning that he is always in the present.
  2. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or under pressure then get more present and focus on Gods' presence with you. Roll away the past and stop worrying about the future. Presence allows grace to flow.
  3. If the time spent fearing something was reversed and turned into praise/gratitude it would produce amazing results. Turn your greatest fears and stressors into your areas of greatest praise and gratitude.

Purpose

  1. The purpose table turner is to scribe and read out loud from the Bible. Also, scribing about the vision God put in your heart and then reading it out loud is very powerful.
  2. Business and ministry are often seen as opposing things but they are meant to work together as one.
  3. One of the definitions of entrepreneur is shifting resources from areas of lower yield to areas of higher yield. Jesus took from the guy to buried his talents and gave them to the one who produced a higher yield.

Health

  1. Washing your feet before bed, scrubbing them with a pummice stone to remove dead skin, and then rubbing them with olive oil is an incredible way to boost health.
  2. Investing more time and presence into mobility and stretching pays huge dividends.

Family

  1. My kids were fighting over a toy and rather than retaliating, getting mad at each other, or telling mommy/daddy, what I really wanted was for them to work it out themselves. When we have issues in relationships we can get mad, tattle to God about others, or we can work things out ourselves, by humbling ourselves and giving others grace. I believe this is what God wants.

Finances

  1. Keep your lives free from the love of money because God is with you. Trusting and finding your security in God being with you allows you to be content in all circumstances.
  2. Andrew Carnegie with his business brought the price of steel down from $140/unit down to $20. Henry Ford and many others did the same. One of the goals of business should be to reduce prices rather than increase so that it frees up more resources and helps more people.

Order

  1. Order is about correct positioning, but time and space are one thing. This means that as time moves forward correct positioning changes constantly. We must stay tuned into God and allow him to reposition us as time moves forward.

Time

  1. This is a time of the year for increased pressure. Higher pressure makes time slow down. Over the next month time may feel like it slows down.
  2. Things that are fragile don't like time moving forward. Time moving forward means change and repositioning, which requires being flexible, adaptable, and willing to change.
  3. Develop mastery on the fundamentals.

Community

  1. Business/ministry can transform communities.
  2. One person can make a difference
