The Victory That Overcomes the World

1 John 5:1-5 says...Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

When we are born of God and keep his commandments we have victory and overcome the world. He always causes us to triumph and gives us the victory in Christ. Jesus said that we would have trouble in this life but to be of good cheer because he has overcome the world. These promises are for those that are born of him and keep his commands, which are not burdensome. But, what are his commands?

1 John 3:23-24 says... And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

In Revelation, Jesus spoke 7 promises to be give to those that are victorious and overcome. Here they are... 

1. To him who overcomes, I will give to eat from the tree of life Revelation 2:7
2. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death. Revelation 2:11
3. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knows except him who receives it. Revelation 2:17
4. To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations —and I will give him the morning star. Revelation 2:26
5. He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Revelation 3:5
6. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name. Revelation 3:12
7. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. Revelation 3:21
