Time to Run

Here is today's communion meditation.

When Peter and John heard that Jesus was alive, they ran to the tomb. In the Jewish culture yesterday started the counting of the days until Pentecost(50 days later). I always think of these 50 days as a reminder to run. It was during this time that Jesus began to appear to the disciples and teach them about the kingdom of God. This is a time of great acceleration. It was during this time that Jesus began to pass everything over to the disciples. Think of it like a relay, and it was now the disciples turn to run.

In today's communion we are asking God for help to run our race with perseverance and focus and to not grow weary. And to run with purpose to get the prize.

Down below are some scriptures to meditate on today about running.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Galatians 5:7-9 You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? 8 That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. 9 “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

1 Corinthians 9:24-26 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly;

Habakkuk 2:2 And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.

Today's Workout/Health Tip

Little kids love to run. My kids are always running, in fact I find myself often saying, " Stop running." Part of our goal in health and fitness is to be like little kids again. One of the easiest ways to start implementing running is with one 50 second run during our Daily Communion Workouts. If you can run further in 50 seconds you are more than likely going to run a faster mile, 5k, etc. One of the most important principles I have learned about cardio/running is that if you get faster at shorter distances, it always leads to improvement in the longer distances but the reverse isn't true. For some people running may need to start as walking but our goal is to restore our ability to move like kids again.

I am praying for you.
