Important Dates Coming up
The Feast of Trumpets is coming up on the evening of Sept 6th. On this evening the tradition is to eat apples with honey to symbolize a sweet new year, because it is like new year's eve in the Jewish culture. Sept 6th also starts what is called the 10 Days of Awe, which are the 10 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement(Sept 15-16). During these 10 days AWE for God motivates the people to get everything righted and to touch no unclean thing so that they wouldn't be defiled for the Holy Day.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 and 7:1 say... Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” And, “I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
One of the most important areas to touch no unclean thing in is our minds. We often let our minds meditate on thoughts that we should be casting down. One of the most dangerous ones is thoughts of self pity or feeling bad for yourself because you don't have some thing or result or because somebody did or didn't do something.
Another example of touching no unclean thing comes from Daniel chapter 1 when Daniel doesn't want to defile himself with the kings food and does a 10 Day Daniel Fast. I am convinced that the reason he chose 10 days was because it was the 10 Days of Awe leading up to the Day of Atonement.
So here is what I typically do during the 10 Days of Awe...
Here is a guide for the 10 Days of Awe that comes from my book The Miracle Year
I am praying for you.
