Communion Meditation

When we take communion we are proclaiming the death of Jesus and we should take it with reverence and holy awe. The death of Jesus was the transition point for all time, when we moved to the New Covenant of grace. We are supposed to believe we receive the moment we pray. When we take this communion think of a line in the sand and what you are believing God for. From the moment we receive communion we have stepped over the line and we are going forward in faith from this point on.

When we take communion we are supposed to examine ourselves. Here are some questions to ask yourself? If you find an area that you need to make some adjustments, receive your forgiveness if needed, and start moving forward.

  • Is spending time with God your highest priority?
  • How is your level of peace? If you have had any recent moments of stress or anxiety bring those to God and thank him that what he put in you is more than enough for you to have perfect peace no matter what is going on around you.
  • How is your level of joy the last 24 hours? Peace and joy are good indicators that we are in faith and focused on God being with us.
  • In your workplace is your goal everyday to go in with peace and joy and serve the people? The number one priority in our work should be to help and serve the people. If we will focus on this God will take care of the rest. Promotion comes from him.
  • Is there anything you have been procrastinating on that you know to do?

None of this should be condemning. If you find an area that needs an adjustment bring it to God and ask for his help turning that area around. Make sure to receive your forgiveness and to forgive yourself. It is important to give yourself grace.

When you look out at the future is it uncertain and scary or is it secure and filled with hope because you realize God is with you.

Thank you that on the night Jesus was betrayed he took the bread and said this is my body broken for you, and his death was the line in the sand, it was the transition from the old way of the law to the new way of grace, led by your spirit. Thank you that after dinner Jesus took the cup and said it was the cup of the New Covenant in his blood. Thank you that our sins have been forgiven and that we have been set free from the law of sin and death. All of the pressure has been taken off and we can be right with you through what Jesus did. Thank you for giving us a fresh start in life.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I pray for all of those that are watching this video, listening, or reading this and our families, friends, those connected to us, and our church and governmental leaders.

We thank you for releasing us from the darkness and transferring us into the light. Thank you for your purpose and grace given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. Thank you that the body of Jesus was broken and his blood was shed so that we could live a life connected with you.

I ask that you the father of glory would give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation so we would know you better. That the eyes of our hearts would be enlightened to know the hope to which you have called us, and the riches of your glorious inheritance that is in us, and the immeasurable greatness of your power to us who believe. The same power that you exercised in Christ when you raised him from the dead, and seated him at your right hand in heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named. Not only in this age but also in the one to come. And you put all things under his feet and made him to be the head of all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Heavenly Father, bless us and make your face shine upon us. Let us find grace and favor in your eyes.Expand our borders and our territory. Expand our capacity to receive your purpose and grace, and all that you want to do in our lives, and to let it flow through us so that we do good and are a blessing to people all over the world. Keep your hand on us and help us do TODAY what is right and best in your eyes. And to do it with peace and joy, and confidence in you. And as we do stretch out your hand to heal and do signs and wonders. And keep us from evil and pain.

Through the mighty name of Jesus. Amen

The Money is in the Mouth

The month of April is like a fresh start. When Jesus was resurrected on the third day, the stone was rolled away. When the stone was rolled away God took the spirit of Jesus and planted it in our hearts as a seed. The third day is a reminder of the treasure God planted within us. Everything we need for life and godliness is already in us in seed form. Part of this is our purpose or charge in life. We walk out our purpose or charge in life out of reverent submission to God.

When David handed over the plans for the temple to Solomon he had everything in writing from God. David had all of the plans as well as all of the materials. In the same way God has given us everything we need for our charge in life, he put treasure within us, but the money is in the mouth. Our words are a very important part of our faith.

God taught me about words when I first got started with him. When I began to cross over into God's plan for my life we were getting ready to do a workout with the trainers at my gym. One of my trainers said she couldn't do the workout because of a hurt pinky toe and pinky finger. Joking around I said that soon she would have an infected eyelash, and the next morning I woke up with an infected eyelash. God spoke to me that day, and said from that point on I needed to pay close attention to the words I speak because words are powerful and what I speak would come to pass.

Recently I went through the entire book of Proverbs and pulled out every scripture on the importance of our words and mouth. We are going to look at them one by one. Your words are a huge key to the money needed for your charge in life, and to align your words with what God put in your heart. Proverbs says God's purpose is in the deep waters of our hearts and a man of understanding draws it out with his words.

When Peter needed tax money Jesus told him to go fishing and that the money would be in the mouth of the first fish he caught. In the story of Joseph in Genesis 42-43, when his brothers come to buy food from him he accuses them of being spies. Joseph puts his brothers in custody for three days and on the third day, Joseph sent them back to their father, but before he did he put their money in the mouth of their sacks of grain and gave them provisions for their journey. When his brothers finally returned again to buy food, Joseph has them brought to his house to eat with him. His brothers are scared and don't know what is going on so they speak to the steward of Joseph's house and tell them about the money that was put in the mouth of their sacks of grain. Then the steward said to them "It's alright, don't be afraid. The God of your father has put treasure in your sacks." In Corinthians it says that we have treasure in earthen vessels. After they ate with Joseph, he sent them away again but before he did he had the steward put their money in the mouth of the sacks of grain again, and in youngest brothers sack he put his silver cup in the mouth of the sack. There seems to be a connection between silver and the mouth.

Your words are a huge indicator of your faith, and one of our biggest roles is to get our words to line up with what God put in our hearts. This is one of the most fundamental principles of faith, but unfortunately most people don't know this. Your words reveal what is in your heart. A good practice would be to always speak as if what you were saying were going to come true. What if you always spoke like God is with you and he is bigger than all of your problems.

Here are several scriptures on the power of our mouth and words.

  • Proverbs 4:24 Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips
  • Proverbs 10:11 the mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked
  • Proverbs 10:13 wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning

  • Prov 10:20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver.
  • Prov 10:21 the lips of the righteous nourish many
  • Prov 10:31-32 the mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom but a perverse tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is fitting but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.
  • Prov 11:9 with his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor
  • Prov 11:11-13 Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed. A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor but a man of understanding holds his tongue. A gossip betrays a confidence but a trustworthy man keeps a secret.
  • Prov 12:6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood but the speech of the upright rescues them.
  • Prov 12:13 An evil man is trapped by his sinful talk.

  • Prov 12:18 Reckless words pierce like a sword but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips last forever but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
  • Prov 12:22-23 The Lord detest lying lips but he delights in men who are truthful. A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the hearts of fools blurts out folly.
  • Prov 13:2-3 From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence. He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.
  • Prov 14:3 A fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.
  • Prov 14:7 Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.
  • Prov 15:1-4 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. Prov 17:7 Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool-how much worse lying lips to a ruler!
  • Prov 17:20 A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.
  • Prov 17:27-28 A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

  • Prov 18:4 The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.
  • Prov 18:6-8 A fool’s lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating. A fool’s mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts.
  • Prov 18:13 He who answers before listening -that is his folly and his shame.
  • Prov 18:20-21 From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Prov 24:26 An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips
  • Prov 25:11-12 A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man’s rebuke to a listening ear.
  • Prov 25:15 Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, a gentle tongue can break a bone.
  • Prov 26:20 Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down. As charcoal to embers and as a wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife. The words of a gossip are like choice morsels they go down to a man’s inmost parts. Like a coating of glaze over earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart.
  • Prov 26:24 A malicious man disguises himself with his lips but in his heart he harbors deceit. Though his speech is charming, do not believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart.
  • Prov 26:28 A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.
  • Prov 27:2 Let another praise you and not your own mouth.

  • Prov 29:5 Whoever flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his feet.
  • Prov 29:20 Do you see a man who is hasty in his words. There is more hope for a fool than for him.
  • Prov 31:8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
  • Eph 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
  • James 1:26 If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
  • Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
  • Colossians 4:6 Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person
  • Matt 15:18 But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person
  • Colossians 3:8 But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth.
  • Luke 6:45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
  • Psalm 141:3 Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!
  • Matt 12:34 You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
  • James 3 And if anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle his whole body. If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!
Romans 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim)

Matt 15:8 Mark 7:6 Isaiah 29:13 these people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. Their worship(fear toward me) is but rules taught by men.

James tells us no man can tame the tongue, but God can. The first step in changing our words is to give our tongue over to God and ask for his help changing the way we speak. Then treasure his word in your heart. Start to store up his word in your heart so that it will always be ready on your lips.

As a practical example, let's say you prayed asking God for healing and believed you received the moment you prayed. But, then two weeks later there are still symptoms in your body and you have a break down in your words saying "I just knew it was never going to work, this is never going to get better." We just spoke against what we asked and believed God for. Our words must align. This doesn't mean it always happens immediately, because we inherit the promises through faith and patience.

  • Here are some other keys takeaways about our words.
  • Words have creative power, they frame our world. Is everything you are speaking what you really want to come to pass.
  • Our tongue steers the direction of our lives and can protect us and keep us from calamity.
  • Store up God's word in your heart so that it is coming out of your mouth consistently, especially when under pressure.
  • Let your speech always be seasoned with grace and speak evil of nobody.
  • Get rid of all the idle talk and negative words.
  • God always fulfills on his word and we must learn to do the same. If we promise something we need to follow through. So be careful what you promise.
