When the Cloud Lifted

In Exodus 40 it says that after Moses and the people had prepared everything for the tabernacle that God's glory came and filled the tabernacle. There was always a cloud above the tabernacle and by night it was a cloud of fire. When the cloud lifted it was the signal for the people to move and the cloud would lead them to their next destination. When the cloud settled it was the signal for the people to wait at that place. 

Numbers chapter 9 also tells this story and it says that sometimes the cloud would remain where it was overnight, but other times it would remain for 2 days, a month, or even a year. During this process God was teaching them to obey his leading and timing. Part of our walk with God is learning to following his leading and timing as well. Today, God is just as faithful to lead us in this way, we just may not have a visible glory cloud floating over us all the time. Now, he leads us from the inside. When we has you waiting you can wait with joy, because at the perfect time he will move you to the next place. When he says to move, he will gently lead you to the next destination. 

This is a new way of living for most of us, because we must learn to wait for his timing rather than forcing things to happen on our own and trying to figure it all out. God in his love is faithful to lead us in the right direction at the perfect time, but we must wait for the cloud to lift.
