Why Did God Make Our Bodies?

Here is today's communion meditation.

Lately I have been thinking about why God made our bodies.

In 1 Corinthians 6 it says that the body is for the Lord and the Lord for the body.

I think we have a body so that we can partner with God to display who he is. We can be his voice, his hands, and feet to display his love, grace, beauty, kindness, goodness, patience, wisdom, and all of who he is.

Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the New Covenant, and that we can partner with God. And we are asking God for help to firm up our commitment to our partnership with him so that we display his splendor even more.

Something I have learned is that if you will commit to this then he will sustain your body.

Today's Health/Workout Tip

In the Daily Communion Workout, there is an exercise called Shoulder Press that is done for 4-8 repetitions. The goal in this exercise is to get stronger for a lower number of reps. Increasing pressing strength in the lower repetition ranges is an important part of health and fitness and a key metric to focus on is called your relative strength, which is the amount of weight you can lift compared to your bodyweight. The goal is to get stronger per pound of body weight. In this exercise pick a weight that can be done with beautiful form for 4-8 reps and over time build it up to where you can do 8 easy beautiful reps consistently for several days in a row. Then increase the weight and start over. I like to get to the place where I am 100% confident, I could do 8 easy reps every day before increasing.

Substitutions: If you need to substitute for any reason here are some options.  The shoulder press can be done with a barbell, dumbbells, kettlebell, or a band press. You could also do a flat or incline bench press with dumbbells, barbell, or a band. A pushup variation that allows for a lower number of reps would also work. For example, if you can only do 4-8 pushups on your toes, then that would work. If you can do more pushups, then you can elevate your feet to make it more challenging.

I am praying for you.

Daniel
