One of my favorite passages is Ephesians 4:11-16 which says...
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
The summer is a reminder that our goal in life is to make other people great and to be great means becoming the servant of many. Each of us has been given a special gift that we can use to serve the people around us and Jesus has given us apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to help us find our gift and to learn to truly serve. In a body if one small part suffers then the entire body suffers.
God's big vision is that each of us would find the work he created us to do and focus on using our gifts to serve. When a whole community is united in doing this the body builds itself up in love, but when a few people are off doing their own thing it causes the whole body to suffer.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
P.S. In the video/audio there is also a communion meditation for the upcoming week where we discuss the importance of covenants and how they always involve a symbol/reminder and promises.
