Strengthened With Power to Have Great Endurance
In Colossians 1:9-14 is a prayer that the apostle Paul says he keeps praying. This prayer must be important if he keeps praying it, and part of the prayer is that the people would be strengthened with power so that they would have great endurance. Notice it is being strengthened with power that leads to having great endurance and patience.
Here is the prayer...
9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God has qualified us to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. And we are asking God to strengthen us with all power according to his glorious might so that we may have great endurance and patience.
Today's Health/Fitness Tip
I have used today's verse many times to help clients in the gym. I have trained a lot of people who were training for endurance events like marathons and tough mudders. And every time we focus on getting stronger and more powerful it always leads to breakthroughs in their endurance. It is a little counterintuitive but the fastest way I have found to improve endurance is to increase strength and power because it increases our top end ability which allows us to cruise at higher level with less effort.
I am praying for you.
