Throwing Bids
This month our challenge is to connect on a new level... With God, our purpose, our loved ones, and community.
So far, we have worked on bringing a new level of awe and presence to our time of connecting with God and on connecting spirit, soul, and body.
This week we are focusing on connecting with those closest to us by honoring their attempts to connect with us. When loved ones ask you to do something with them or start a conversation with you these are bids(opportunities to connect). Our goal this week is to catch at least 80% of all their bids. And we also want to become great at throwing bids.
To throw bids means we are going to proactively look for opportunities to do good for our loved ones. How can we keep them from problems and give them the desires of their heart. Yesterday we said God always catches all of our bids. He also throws bids our way. He tries to connect with us and he looks ahead into our life to prevent problems and give us the desires of our heart.
One of the best ways to throw bids is to use our imagination before bed to envision other people's day. As we do this, we can see opportunities to be a blessing and overwhelm them with good. Another great way to do this is becoming an excellent listener. As we listen intently, our loved ones will give us clues about the things they really desire in life. When we hear their hopes and dreams, we can make a note and find a way to help bring them to pass.
Today's communion is a time that God catches all of our bids, and he is always looking for ways to connect with us, keep us from pain and problems, and to give us the desires of our heart. And we are asking for help to become more like him in this and to continue to grow in this starting today.
Today's Health/Fitness Tip
If you are ever having a day when you don't feel like exercising, try the following... Do one very easy set of an exercise. After this first set the body will usually wake up a little and then you can do a 2nd set with a little more intensity. Doing 2-4 rounds of this is a great way to start small and ease into the workout on days when you aren't feeling it.
I am praying for you.
Daniel
P.S. It's not too late to join us in the Connection Challenge.
