Settle In
Here is today's communion meditation.
The other day I was reading 1 Peter 5:10 in the King James Version and it reads a little differently than many other version. Here is the verse...
But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
Over the last couple of years, we have talked about becoming established and strengthened in the New Covenant. But the King James version of this verse also adds "settle you."
This reminds me of the people in the Old Testament on their journey to the promised land. Eventually they had to settle in. It also reminds me of when I used to be a baseball pitcher. As the game got going there would often be times when I would get into a great rhythm and settle into the game.
In the original Greek language of this verse the word settle is often translated as "Foundation," and this month our message is about having a foundation of rest.
In today's communion we are asking God to perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle us. And we are asking him to teach us about this verse and how to walk in it. We are also asking him to teach us about the connection with foundations.
Today's Health and Fitness Tip
Outside of our normal workouts its good to find active or hobbies that we enjoy to increase our activity. Golf, tennis, dancing, hiking, racquetball, basketball, etc are all great ways to increase activity and have fun in the process.
I am praying for you.
