Do the Things You Did at First
Here is today's communion meditation.
Recently we started the 40 Days of Teshuva( Teshuva = turn or repent), which are the 40 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement. In the Jewish culture the Day of Atonement was considered the holiest day of the year, because it was the one day of the year when the High Priest could enter the holy of holies to make atonement for the sins of the people.
In Revelation 2:5 Jesus said, "Repent and do the things you did at first."
For many of us, when we first believed, there was a level of excitement and energy about our relationship with God, and in all relationships there is a tendency for things to fade. But, we should remember to maintain the excitement and energy we had at first.
In today's communion we are asking God to show us any ways where we are not doing the things we did at first.
