As Soon as They Touched the Water
Here is today's communion meditation.
Recently we started the 40 Days of Teshuva( Teshuva = turn or repent), which are the 40 days that lead up to the Day of Atonement. In the Jewish culture the Day of Atonement was considered the holiest day of the year, because it was the one day of the year when the High Priest could enter the holy of holies to make atonement for the sins of the people.
Part of Teshuva is taking action and steps of faith. Which reminds me of Joshua 3:13 & 15.
And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord—the Lord of all the earth—set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap.”
Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off.
In order for the people to cross into the promised land, the priests had to take a step of faith into a river that was at flood stage. But as soon as their feet touched the water, God began to part the river.
In a similar way we have some steps of faith that God is leading us to take, and those steps might look impossible, but when we take the step God goes to work, clearing the path.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand how to apply these scriptures today.
Today's Health and Fitness Tip
There will be some days when you don't feel like eating right or exercising, but on those days take the first step, and trust that God will go to work to help you from there.
