Demonstrate Repentance
Hey everyone!
Today is Speak Life Saturday (The Faith Accelerator)
(You can learn more about the 7 Accelerators here)
Focus on speaking life today... With the words that you speak and the tone you speak with.
Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
Let your speech always be seasoned with grace.
Here is this week's Yearly Cycle communion meditation.
We are in the first week of the 40 Days of Teshuva which started on September 4th.
These are the 40 days that lead up to Yom Kippur(The Day of Atonement), which was considered to be like a deadline for the year when everything needed to be in order by that date. Therefore, the priority during these 40 days was to get everything righted and back in order.
The word “teshuva” comes from the Hebrew word “to turn” or “repent.” It is a time of repentance and miraculous answers to prayer.
Acts 26:20 says, "I preached that they should repent and turn to God and demonstrate their repentance by their deeds."
And Jesus told the religious leaders in Matthew 3:8 that they should prove by the way that they live that they had repented. It is also translated as bearing fruit in keeping with repentance.
To repent is to have a change of heart or mind, to seek to do things differently.
And this change of mind/heart should cause us to take action and change our habits.
In today's communion let's spend some time seeking God about adjustments he wants to see us make and then let's stop procrastinating and take action!
I am praying for you.
Daniel
