Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 

Let your speech always be seasoned with grace. 

Let's ask God to help us speak life today.

 We are getting close to Christmas and Hannukah, which starts on Christmas day this year. Christmas is a reminder to celebrate that light came into the world. And Hannukah is called the Feast of Dedication and the Festival of Lights. Hannukah comes from a time when God's people took back control of the temple and God made a little bit of oil use to light the temple last for 8 nights. He took the little the people had and did the miraculous with it.

Hannukah is a reminder to firm up our dedication to what God has called us to do so that our light shines brighter. And when we do, he can take what looks like not enough and turn it into more than enough. During Hannukah, one candle is lit the first night, and then additional candles are added every night to symbolize that our light should be growing brighter and brighter. 

In today's communion we are asking God to help us firm up our dedication to what He has called us to do and to help our light shine brighter.
