Here is today's communion meditation.
This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
Recently we looked at Ecclesiastes 9:10 which says, "whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
There is a connection between these 2 verses because some of the same Hebrew words are used.
And it is often in the balance of scriptures that we find the truth. I think what these scriptures are telling us is that we are do to everything to the best of our ability to glorify God, but the real results don't come from our strength, power, or ability, but from God's Spirit.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the connection of these scriptures and what he is trying to show us. And we are asking him to help us apply what we learn so that we get results by His Spirit.

2 Corinthians 11:3 says, "But I am afraid, lest by any means, as the serpent in his craftiness deceived Eve, your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity and the purity in Christ."
Notice in this verse that the enemy's tactic is to corrupt our minds away from the simplicity and purity we have in Christ. The context of this verse is about being devoted to God. The simplicity we have in Christ, is that we can simply walk in love and abide in Christ.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us guard our minds with his peace so that we walk in the simplicity and purity we have in Christ.

We are in the middle of the year, which is a reminder to trust. And when we trust it makes life much simpler, because when we trust we can rest. But we must trust on 3 levels... Trust God, trust ourselves and become trustworthy, and find people we can trust.
God gives us the ultimate example of being trustworthy... He always keeps his word/promises, has great intentions for us, knows what he is doing, and is always on time. We can learn to become more trustworthy and to trust ourselves by becoming more like God in these things.
And when we talk in trust is everything is much simpler.

Ephesians 3:20 says, "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
God can do immeasurably(abundantly) more than we ever ask, think, dream, or imagine and the method he uses to do this is His power being put to work within us.

The Hebrew word for might is "koach," which can also mean God's power. I think we have a role to play in putting God's power to work. He has given it to us, and when we put it to work, he does more than we could ever ask or imagine.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God can do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, and we are asking him to help us understand His power within us and how to put it to work.

Lately I have been thinking about what people really want out of life, myself included. I think we all want to feel like we are making progress, moving forward, and that all of the areas of life are working together harmoniously. There are so many different facets of life... purpose, connection, freedom, security, finances, health, nutrition, fitness, family, relationships, keeping things in order, etc.
To get all of these areas moving forward together can be quite the feat.
Romans 8:28 says that "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
God is the one who sustains all things by the power of his word, and he is the one who can help us juggle everything and get it all working together in a beautiful way.

Recently I was thinking about how busy and complicated life can get and God reminded me that it is community that simplifies life. Life isn't an individual sport but a team sport. We are meant to do life together in community, because it has the ability to simplify life and multiply our capabilities.
For a community to be functioning properly there must be diversity with different gifts and roles. And when people are functioning in their gifting we take the pressure off of one another, and set each other free. When we then use our freedom to multiply our abilities even more it creates a virtuous cycle.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the important role community plays and for him to help us get is right.

In 2 Samuel 7:3 after David finally becomes king and is sitting in his palace the prophet Nathan tells him, " Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you."
Recently we've talked about a few scriptures that are similar to this. When Samuel anointed Saul to be king he told him that whatever his hand found to do, to do it because God was with him. In Ecclesiastes 9:10 Solomon said that whatever our hand finds to do, to do it with all of our might. And the word for might could actually be translated as all of God's power.
David had it in mind to build a house for God, and if we read on in this chapter it tells us that God picked Solomon to build the temple, but David began to get everything ready. He prepared all of the materials, the workers, and the plans for the temple in advance for Solomon.
We have God with us today, and I think we often underestimate how much God is trying to prompt...

In our Recording Your Journey Workbook for the Abundant Life Blueprint there is a Monthly Prayer of Petition at the start of each month. This is a place to write out your requests to God for the month. And the process we use is to write out the prayer and then sign it like a formal agreement with God.
A few months ago, it seemed like the things I had prayed for weren't coming to pass as quickly as they often do when using the Monthly Prayer of Petition, so I went back and noticed that I forgot to sign the prayer. So, the next month, I made sure to sign the prayer, and things started happening really quickly again.
Unfortunately, I forgot to sign my Prayer of Petition again for my May Prayer, and again things weren't shifting the way I had prayed. While thinking about this, God nudged me to go back and sign May's prayer. I felt like he told me, "It's not too late."
It can be easy to get defeated...

The Hebrew word for "might," is "koach," which means the creative power of God. It also means strength, ability, force, substance, wealth, and a weird translation is the strength of a reptile.
Recently we looked at when Samuel anointed Saul to be king, and he told him that after the Spirit rushed upon him to do whatever his hand found to do, because God was with him. This was a picture of Pentecost, where believers were clothed with power from on high.
Now that we have God's spirit, whatever our hand finds to do, we can do it with all of God's might, and not our own.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the significance of having his koach, and we are asking him to help us use all of his might.

Yesterday we looked at 2 Timothy 3:16 which says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."
And we talked about the inspiration that comes from God's word, meaning it is God-breathed. One definition of inspire is to give the urge or ability to take action. And inspiration leads to profit. We've been given the Holy Spirit to teach us how to profit, and one of the ways he teaches us to profit is by inspiring us with God's word.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us profit from his word the way he intended.
