Acceleration on the Third Day

Uncategorized Apr 12, 2023

Listen to the Podcast

Here is today's communion meditation.

This month our message is... The Best Use of Time, which has me thinking about accelerated results. The other day I heard someone say that it's easier to get much bigger results in a short period of time than it is to get smaller results over a long time. Something I observed while working in the gym is that some people get fast results by doing something extreme, but it seems that these results very rarely last. On the other side of the spectrum is taking a more patient approach, aiming for slow steady progress over a longer period of time, but this can be challenging as well. But I think God can give us the ultimate combination in that we can get accelerated results that actually last.

With us just celebrating Easter I was reminded that in the Bible the third day seems to be correlated with accelerated results.

In the story of Jesus turning water into wine(John 2) there is a small detail in the...

Here is today's communion meditation.

Easter was a reminder that we have God living within us and he is the source of everything good. He is the source of life, light, truth, energy, love, health, and so much more. If we need one of these things we can go directly to the source. For us to produce fruit in our lives we must stay connected to the source.

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that we have the source of all things good living within us. And we are asking him to help us rely on him as our source and stay connected to him.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

God is the source of our health, strength, endurance and as we do our workouts focus on staying connected with him.

 I am praying for you.

Combinations

Here is today's communion meditation.

I used to play and coach college baseball, and the other day I was reminded that one of the keys to pitching in baseball is the combination of pitches. It's often a pitcher's ability to execute combinations of pitches that determines his success. This reminded me of the 1-2-3 combination of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Easter/First Fruits.

We had a reminder this last weekend of this powerful combination of Jesus forgiving our sins, releasing us from darkness, transferring us into the light, making us righteous, rolling away our old heart of stone, giving us new hearts, and putting his Spirit and power in our heart hearts... what a combination.

In today's communion we are asking God to help us understand the combination of what Jesus did for us and to apply this understanding. We are also asking God to help us create amazing combinations that produce results in our lives.

Preparation

Happy Easter!

Here is today's communion meditation.

In the Gospels one of the phrases that is used in the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus is "Preparation Day." In the Jewish culture the day before the Sabbath was Preparation Day. Everything needed for the Sabbath had to be prepared on the day before. Preparation came before rest. And after the death of Jesus the women prepared spices and ointment for his body before they went to the tomb.

In today's communion we are asking God to teach us about the importance of preparation and become people who are always prepared so that we can enter into his rest.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Preparation is a big part of health. To consistently eat healthy meals requires preparation. And to have a systematic workout plan requires preparation. As we train our bodies we prepare for higher levels activities.

 I am praying for you.

Clean Out the Old

Here is today's communion meditation.

Today is day 2 of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which a reminder to clean out our old ways so that we can walk in newness of life. This was a time in the Old Testament when the people were to clean out all of the old leaven in their house.

1 Corinthians 5:7-8 says, "Get rid of the old leaven, that you may be a new unleavened batch, as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with the old bread, leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and of truth."

In today's communion we are asking God to help us clean out our old ways.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

In our bodies, the lymphatic system cleans the body. It removes toxins, inflammation, and waste but the lymphatic system has no pump other than our muscles. Light movement is the pump that circulates the lymphatic system and keeps the body clean.

Here is this week's Yearly Cycle update.

Today we start the 7 days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, which is a reminder of the sinless body of Jesus. Unleavened bread is a reminder that Jesus is the bread that came down from Heaven, and he is our righteousness.

This is a time to remember that he became sin so that we could be righteous and have God on our side.

Here is our filter for this week... Unleavened Bread.

I am praying for you.

If God is For Us

Here is today's communion meditation.

As we celebrate Good Friday and Easter it's a time to remember that God is for us.

Romans 8:31-32 says, " What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God is for us.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

The 2 cues that have helped me the most with workouts are... do your best and make it beautiful. These 2 cues help to increase presence, which helps God's grace flow through us on new levels.

The God Who Sees Me

Tonight, is Passover, which is like a big communion meal. It's like communion for the year.

Here is today's communion meditation.

The other day I was at my daughter's gymnastics practice and noticed that there was the temptation for me to be looking at my phone rather than watching what my girls were doing, and I felt God prompting me to be more present and watch them. As I watched them practice, they would look over to see if I was watching, and they would even wave at me periodically.

In this process God reminded me that one of His names is " The God Who Sees Me."

In Genesis is the story of Hagar being in a very lonely and low place in her life and God appeared to her. After God spoke with her, she said, "you are the God Who Sees Me."

Today's communion is a time of gratitude that God always sees us and we are asking him to help us understand how he sees us in Christ.

The Holes in His Hands

Uncategorized Apr 05, 2023

Listen to the Podcast

Here is today's communion meditation.

The other day my youngest daughter was drawing a picture of Jesus. When she finished, she brought it over to me and said, "I even drew the holes in his hands." With Passover and Easter approaching it got me thinking about the significance of the holes in his hands and what they mean for us.

My first thought was the Old Testament scriptures about how the people would have purses or money bags with holes in them that would never stay full, when they weren't doing things God's way. It also got me thinking about the time that slips away. I am not sure if there is a connection to these things, so in today's communion we are asking God to teach us about the holes in the hands of Jesus and what they mean for us.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

Our hands are made to secure things. Whenever you are lifting weights make sure to grip them firmly.

A Waste of Time

Uncategorized Apr 04, 2023

Listen to the Podcast

Here is today's communion meditation.

This month our message is... The Best Use of Time.

Unfortunately, we can waste a lot of time. And I think one of the biggest wastes of time is worrying, venting, toiling, feeling bad for ourselves, complaining, and meditating on ways people have wronged us or hurt our feelings. None of these things improve our situations, in fact they usually make them worse, because we are magnifying the problem. This time could be better spent forgiving and casting our cares over onto God and then doing something that will help solve the problem or that would be productive.

In today's communion we are asking to help us identify any ways we are wasting time and to turn that time into the best use of time that produces things of value for today and the age to come.

Today's Health and Fitness Tip

In our workouts we can also waste time by not using our time on the most effective exercises/ways to produce the results...
