In September we are focusing on Financial Stewardship...becoming great stewards who manage, multiply, and greatly increase all that God has entrusted to us.
We started this month by looking at the parable of the talents where the guy who multiplied the most money took action immediately.
Today is day 3 of the 10 Days of Awe, and these days are a reminder to take action. I have found that these 10 days can be some of the most productive days of the year. God has a way of slowing time down during this season, allowing us to get more done, but we must take action. When we take action and clear out our mental to-do list it helps us become clearer mentally and increases our ability to hear more clearly from God.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us be people who take consistent action and get things done so that we are clear to hear and clear mentally.

Today is day 2 of the 10 Days of Awe. The other night as our family celebrated The Feast of Trumpets with apples and honey, I was reminded of a scripture from Song of Solomon 2:5 which says... Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love.
During this time of year God wants to refresh us, and the apples with honey is a reminder of this. God gives strength to the weary and refreshes us.
In today's communion we are asking God to strengthen and refresh us so that we keep walking in love.

The Feast of Trumpets(also known as Rosh Hashana) was last night and today starts the 10 Days of Awe that lead up to the Day of Atonement. This feast is a reminder for us to live a resurrected life, by putting off our old ways and walking in newness of life. The Feast of Trumpets is a reminder that at the blast of the trumpet the dead in Christ will rise. Yesterday when I woke up, the words from Revelation 22:12 kept running through my mind... I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.
The words "I am coming soon," are the very last words of Jesus in the Bible, and they are meant to encourage us.

The Feast of Trumpets(also known as Rosh Hashana) is tonight. This feast is a reminder for us to live a resurrected life, by putting off our old ways and walking in newness of life. Tonight the typical tradition is to eat apples with honey to symbolize a sweet new year because tonight is like New Year's Eve in the Jewish culture. The Feast tonight also starts the 10 Days of Awe, which are 10 days to increase our awe of God for his majesty and splendor.
Today's communion is a time of gratitude for the reminder we have in the Feast of Trumpets. And we are asking God to help us make any adjustments needed to walk in the new life Jesus paid for us to live.

Yesterday we talked about writing what you want. In John 15 AMP Jesus says that if we abide in him that we can ask for whatever we want, so that God would be glorified and our joy would be full. In the AMP version one of the phrases that is used for abide is... vitally united.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us stay vitally united with Christ.
Here is John 15:5-9 AMP
]I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken off] branch, and withers and dies; and they gather such branches and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you remain in Me and My words...

The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah) is coming up on the evening of September 25th. This night is like New Year's Eve in the Jewish culture and they typically celebrate with apples and honey to symbolize it being a sweet new year. Rosh Hashanah starts the final 10 days of Teshuva, which are called the 10 Days of Awe. It is during this time that I do a Daniel Fast every year.

Recently I was reminded of something God has taught me to do in the area of finances... which is writing out prayers. The process of writing out what we are believing God for helps us to clarify our thinking, and the written document creates a marker in time of our prayer.
Here are a couple of ways to apply this into financial stewardship...
After writing our prayers like this I like to print them, sign them, get in agreement with someone...

Recently I feel like God has been prompting me to do a communion meditation on Ecclesiastes 11, where Solomon says to cast your bread upon the water. To be honest I am not sure what God is trying to show us in this passage, but many people relate these verses to investing.
In today's communion we are asking God for wisdom and insight into the following passage, and for help to walk out whatever he shows us.
Here is the passage from Ecclesiastes 11:1-7:
Cast your bread upon the waters for you will find it after many days. Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.
If the clouds are full of rain, they empty themselves on the earth, and if a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where the tree falls, there it will...

This week we are going to focus more on the multiplication aspect of stewardship. An important part of multiplying is multiplying our abilities to help, serve, and earn more. And the best way I have found to do this is to find a mentor. Find someone who is skilled in what you want to do and go learn from them. You can read their books, take their courses, spend time with them, or even work with them. This used to be the way people learned skills, they were mentored by actually doing the work with someone who knew how.
In today's communion we are asking God to help us multiply our abilities and if needed open doors of opportunity with mentors.
